"Kent people's stronghold", with a pretty impressive cathedral splat in the middle, seen as a place of pilgrimage for Christians ever since 1170. Also kindly provided inspiration for Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (14th Century), but I'm sure you figured that one out a while ago. Lots of things in the relative outskirts as well, including an amusing first encounter with local 'youth' which involved sensing a distinct smell of pot after they'd walked by. Guess there isn't much else to do on the weekends. |
