"Kent people's stronghold", with a pretty impressive cathedral splat in the middle, seen as a place of pilgrimage for Christians ever since 1170. Also kindly provided inspiration for Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (14th Century), but I'm sure you figured that one out a while ago. Lots of things in the relative outskirts as well, including an amusing first encounter with local 'youth' which involved sensing a distinct smell of pot after they'd walked by. Guess there isn't much else to do on the weekends.

Canterbury Cathedral
.

Great South window, which was made around the 12th Century.

Roaming through the surrounding areas. The small building behind the arches is a combination of St Andrew's Chapel and Treasury.

Cloisters.

Quaint chess-piece building on Longport (just as it switches from Monastery St) on the way to St Augustine's Abbey.

Cemetery by the St Mary's Church, with grave stones resembling old, wobbly, crooked, rotten stone teeth. Hurrah, adjectives.
