The perfect mix of old and new architecure, beautifully picturesque, kind of reminded me of a 'British' Vienna, just more hilly, and with a castle on a volcano instead of a gothic cathedral. Stayed in a place that could've well been used as a set in The Shining, especially the wallpapered corridors, just off Frederick Street. Had some GREAT steak somewhere. Saw a rainbow while on top of the Scott Memorial and later Calton Hill (can you GET more 'picturesque'?). The city seems relatively quiet during the day, with friendly folk and some very talkative cab drivers around. Nighttime's a-bustlin'. |
