Istanbul - historically also known under the names Byzanitum and Constantinople. Capital of all sorts of things, except of course Turkey. Split into two parts by the Bosphorus, and consequently the only city to be located on two continents. Bustling, exciting, great for showing off a knack for direction, a visual feast with intense traffic habits. Mostly based around the idea of 'huge and beautiful and majestic', judging by the mosques (most famously Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque), palaces (Topkapı and Dolmabahçe), and Bosphorus Bridge (which, despite being basically just a huge suspention bridge, is very, VERY large upclose indeed), as well as many other stunning sights. Especially the Golden Horn at sunset... kind of makes you think if they named that on purpose.

Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia).

Haliç (Golden Horn), seen from the Galata Tower. The Bosphorus divides İstanbul into two parts, one technically in Asia and the other in Europe.

İstiklal Caddesi, Taksim. Total madness.

Dolmabahçe Sarayı (Dolmabahçe Palace), Gate of the Sultan.

Muayede Salonu (Ceremonial Hall).

Marble Bathroom.

Wonky!?

Ayasofya.

Walled Obelisk (foregound) & Obelisk of Thutmosis III (background)

Wonky!

Sultanahmet Mosque ("Blue Mosque").

Topkapi Palace kitchens.
