Central Turkey, and possibly the most unusual place I have ever been to. The landscape is so wonderfully alien, it's pretty easy to pretend you're on a different planet altogether. Aparently it's like this due to specific volcanic activity and erosion. A lot of the houses are carved into the hills and mountains, and it all looks very impressively like a weird termite city, especially because the area features a LOT of famous underground cities as well. Which are pretty unusual to walk through - you feel awkwardly like a minotaur. There are even blue and red arrows to guide you along and back on a specific ruite because it is so, so easy to wander off and get hopelessly lost in the vastness of 8 floors' worth of tunnels (out of 11; a lot of it hasn't been properly excavated yet) stretching down around 85m and capable of housing up to 50,000 people. FIFTY. THOUSAND.

Tuz Gölü - a saline sea, second biggest in Turkey.

Uçhisar Castle.

I like to call these 'Spock Mountains'. Not sure if they have an official name, but these formations are very common in the Göreme area.

4AM rise and shine.

Oh, why hello there.

Pulling at the sky with wires.

Or maybe just trying to get the balloon to pop.

Underground city of Derinkuyu.

Bottom of a well? No, a ventilation duct. Just like a termite nest.

High speed curve turning not recommended... tunnels are about 1m in height, 60cm across.

Suicidal Turkish... wildlife? Saved from under the wheels of a billion-wheel truck (yes in this country you can easily stroll along the highway).

Fairy chimney (hoodoo) 'town' of Göreme.

'ello dads.

Floobin' scary, if you can see it...

In Rose Valley.

Mt Erciyes in the distance. It's a massive stratovolcano.
