keep walking.

glowing purple dots covered the black trees. through their mangled branches the stars filled what could be seen of the sky. winds wove the air into fading haunted melodies. every now and then tiny green lights would flit by, disappearing into the dark. I kept walking. my feet began to sense strange vibrations, and I realised it was coming from the earth itself, pulsing in slow waves of the deepest bass. I could feel as it slowly crawled up my spine like the fingertips of a hundred hands. normally by now I would have thought of numerous escape plans, but I had forgotten what thoughts were. I kept walking. the earth pulsed and breathed under my footsteps. it began to tell a story, but one with no words or meaning. there was no threat. it was an invitation. my mind blinked desperately one last time and faded into nothingness.

the trees shifted.

the forest began to dance, immersed in some kind of primordial rhythm.

life here was definitely different.
